WRITING ESSAYS IN ENGLISH – ADVICE

When you write a text it is constructed into different parts – paragraphs – consisting of your viewpoints, and an introduction and ending. Read the following and keep it in mind when writing the national test.
Introduction
In this part you introduce your subject (for instance “I will write about”), and the best method is if you can try to evoke interest for your subject first, for instance by writing questions.

Conclusion
Here you write a summary of the main points in your text, and if you can add a reflective thought for the reader to think about.

Paragraphs
It is very important that you indicate clear and consistent paragraphs when writing you text.

Personal reflections
It is also very important that you try to be personal in your text by clearly stating what you think and why, and given the chance compare with your own experience (and it is even better if you can look at it from an even wider perspective).

In order to have a clear structure use linking words in your essay, and here are the most common situations where you need linking words:
