LETTERS FROM THE INSIDE - 74

1. Mandy says that she would like to get a “tat” (p. 1), that is a tattoo. Find ten slang words. Write them down, as well as your explanation of them.

2. Why are the letters so important to Mandy? There are many reasons, so think hard and motivate your answer.

3. What do you make of Mandy’s relationship to her brother? What is he like and what does he do to her?

4. How does Tracey feel about prison? Quote the text when you answer. What is your opinion about the prison?

5. What crime do you think Tracey has committed? Motivate your answer well from the text!

6. When you look back at Tracey’s description of her family life when she was lying to Mandy, where do you find non credible information? How does Mandy feel about the lies? What would you have done?

QUESTIONS ABOUT STEPHEN KING’S MISERY (chapters. 1-9)

1. What do you know about Annie Wilkes? Write down as much information as you can!

2. Who is Paul? What does he do for a living, and what do you know about him as a person?

3. Paul thinks Annie is crazy. Why is that?

4. Try to describe Annie’s home.

5. Now you need to write a longer answer. Imagine you are Paul. What would you have done when Annie leaves the house to get new papers for the typewriter? Your text should be at least 50 words.

Sorry to disappoint you! But there will be no English test in November...

Your job is to read a novel in November. (Please note that I will publish the first set of questions in advance on the blog.) These are the dates you need to keep in mind:

November 10th: You will read your selected novel in class.

November 15th: You will read your selected novel in class.

November 17th: A group discussion of the first 74 pages in "Letters from the Inside" and the first 40 in "Misery". You will also write down and hand in your answers to me during class.

November 24th: You will read your selected novel in class.

November 30th: A group discussion of the last parts of the novels. You will also write down and hand in your answers to me during class.

Nu har vi en soffa

Tack för den trevliga filmvisningen (fast jag kan tycka att Liam Neeson spelar en lite väl hämndlysten fader). Jag hoppas att ni njuter av lovet medan jag och mina kollegor fortbildar oss på och utanför Berga.

Återigen tack för ert fina arbete med hemklassrummet - det blev jättesfint! Om ni läser detta inlägg före måndag vill jag passa på att berätta att jag har fixat ett möbeltillskott till 308:an - en röd soffa. De som kommer först till lektionerna får sitta där...
